Now back from the holiday I’ve been revisiting the latest design.  I’m thinking that the backpack straps on the bottom might not be the best location.   You don’t really want to put the bottom of the bag against your back.   Going to look at alternate options this week as I  still want to keep a version of this design element alive.

Much of my inspiration is found within the city I grew up in, New York City.  I think about my surroundings, the buildings, the people, the energy and attempt to translate that into design.

After my experience in Australia, I found much of my inspiration from the places I visited.  Whether it was my outlandish sailboat captain or my kind-hearted and cultured aborigine friend Linc, I was most definitely inspired.  I also found inspiration from the public.  One contributor, Rob B. was particularly insightful (thank you!).

I’m working on final tweaks to the designs and will be sending it out to the manufacturer.  You’ll be seeing the prototype soon, so stay tuned.

Taking a page from nautical fasteners on sailboats, I am looking at including a rope and leather fastener as a side pocket detail.

I’ve found these old pictures of Sydney.  They really speak to the city’s fashionable and old world heritage.  This intersection of sophistication and old world travel is something I am focusing the design on.

I was mentioning making a bag with sail cloth to my dive instructor and she showed me the bag she uses (pictured here).  I thought it was pretty cool.
